For schools

Work with Nawa at institution level

Certification requires attendance at all 7 modules. We share a Rubric for the training, which includes a micro-teach, a completed visit risk-assessment exercise, and a competent safeguarding scenario response. Each section is assessed and certification is dependant on an average passing rate of 80%.

Professional development

Two days. Tool-agnostic. Ethically grounded. When to use AI, not How.

Most AI training teaches a product. When the licence lapses or the vendor redesigns the interface, the training is worthless. This workshop teaches ethical discernment instead. We train teachers on a practical rubric for assessing tool safety, and when it can be safely deployed to best use for teaching and learning. Whatever your school has already bought, or if it has bought nothing at all, teachers learn to able to use it well.

Day one, morning · Community Grounding. What these systems actually do, in plain terms and from an ethical lens. Where they fail, why they fail so confidently, and how to judge an output inside your own subject rather than in the abstract. Teachers will be able to: articulate Nawa's three design commitments (community grounding, tiered screens, human connection), and explain WHY to a skeptic.

Day one, afternoon · Audit. Each teacher brings a real lesson they already teach. We interrogate it together: which parts genuinely benefit from a machine, and which parts are the teaching itself and must stay human. We navigate lesson plans; explain how one concept (machine learning) differentiates across subjects; identify the non-negotiables vs the adaptable elements in any lesson.

Day two, morning · Build. Rebuild that lesson using whichever tool your school has chosen. Prompting, yes, but mostly checking against the rubric: verifying, adapting and rejecting output so that the lesson stays yours. Teachers will be able to run every core ML activity themselves (sorting games, train-test-fix, sabotage, autopsy) and set up the tool accounts and safe settings from scratch.

Day two, afternoon · Community Detectives. Teachers will be able to plan a compliant community visit end-to-end: partner approach, risk assessment, consent, ratios, dignity rules, and the on-the-day running order — and respond correctly to safeguarding scenarios. This is where we establish the learning of adapting the tool to the scenario, ethically.

Who it is for

Whole staff or a single department. Works from eight to thirty teachers; above thirty it runs better as two cohorts. No prior experience is assumed, and confident users are given harder problems rather than left idle.

Format

Two days on your own site, either consecutive or a fortnight apart. The gap version works better: teachers try something with a real class in between and bring back what actually happened. Arabic and English both welcome.

What you leave with

Every teacher leaves with one rebuilt lesson, a one-page disclosure routine for pupil work, a rubric for analysing safe AI use in their class, and a shared vocabulary — so the staffroom conversation stops being about whether AI is good or bad and starts being about specific decisions.

Advisory

An AI policy your school can defend

Most school AI policies are one of two things: a ban that everyone quietly ignores, or a page of principles that answers no question anyone actually has. Neither survives its first real incident. I work with your leadership to produce one that does — specific enough to apply on a Tuesday morning, and grounded in what these systems genuinely do.

Stance

One page, in your school's own voice, setting out what you believe AI is for and what it is not for. Short enough that a teacher, a parent or an inspector can quote it back to you accurately.

Permitted use and disclosure

What pupils may use, at which stage, for which kinds of work — and how they declare it. What constitutes a safe AI tool for use in schools. Academic integrity handled as a disclosure habit rather than a detection arms race, because detection does not reliably work.

Data and safeguarding

A hard line on what must never be typed into a tool: pupil names, assessment data, safeguarding notes, anything about a child's health or family. Written against your nation's Personal Data Privacy Protection Law where applicable, and defaulting to GDPR where not.

Staff practice and review

Where AI may reduce teacher workload and where it may not touch professional judgement, especially marking. Plus who owns the policy and when it is revisited, so that it cannot quietly go stale.

How the engagement runs

Audit. Interviews with leadership, teachers and, where appropriate, pupils — to establish what is already happening rather than what policy assumes is happening. The gap is usually large.

Draft. I write the policy with your senior team, in your voice and sized to your context. Every clause has to survive one question: what does this tell a teacher to do on Tuesday morning?

Adopt. A staff briefing so the policy is understood rather than merely circulated, a short parent-facing summary, and a review date with a named owner.

Start with a conversation

Tell me your school, your size and what has already been tried. I will tell you honestly whether the workshop, the advisory work, both or neither is the right fit.
